The people are very pleasant and the staff is great. My mother was there for five days and then she got sick and just came back after being gone for about six weeks or so. They were standing at the door welcoming her back home. It's a little bit on the expensive side. The Knolls would have been my preference for my mom. The staff seemed to be very attentive while I was there.

My dad has moved into The Knolls. They provide activities and meals. They also offer help if he needs it. Since everything is shut down because of COVID there's not really a lot of activities anywhere. They have outings, they have get-togethers, and they have exercise.
It was a really difficult decision to place our Dad anywhere, however, Dad has really adjusted well,... I recently met the manager and her team on a recent visit to see a friend who lives at the Retreat. Your actual costs may be higher or lower than the average. I was impressed by their kindness and cleanliness of the home, and their attitude. They take her to get her hair done and to doctor’s appointments.
The most difficult aspect of this is that there are so MANY caregivers, coming and going at various hours, making it hard to communicate with a specific person. I wish there was an easy way to speak with, for example, the person who gives my mom a shower, or the person who will be getting her up in the morning. But I'm sure that this is not a problem specific to Songbird, but is true of any facility. Everyone is willing to listen and help, but it's hard to know if a message is getting through to each person who cares for my mom.
